At times the romantic side of Mek comes out, and thus the Jane pillow came to life. The fringes give a playful but romantic look to the pillow.
The collection is made locally in Amsterdam, using a mix of responsible materials; hemp, cotton & wool (RWS – responsible wool standard).
The Mek pillow collection is handmade in Amsterdam by Najib Khalil and Brosk Hussein. With over 35 years experience, Najib’s knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques is endless. Working for a wide range of high-end clients, he had to leave his private couture atelier in Beirut behind in 2015 to flee the war. He now lives and works in Amsterdam. Brosk was born in Aleppo, Syria and moved to Beirut to pursue his career as a tailor. There, he deepened his craftsmanship by working with leading designers, creating stunning evening gowns and wedding dresses. In 2015 Brosk fled for the war in his country and has now settled in The Netherlands.
70% Hemp 30% Cotton. Hemp is one of the most sustainable fabrics there is. It has no natural enemies (insects) and therefore requires no pesticide treatment. It grows extremely fast, so weeds have little chance. 100% Biodegradable, no irrigation needed, no chemical treatment.
